CHWC Activities
Instruction and Mentoring
CHWC frequently offers instruction and mentoring in the use of the equipment in the Woodshop and in the construction of woodworking projects. Due to the inherent danger of using the woodworking tools in the Woodshop, CHWC members must assume personal responsibility and liability for any damages caused by participation in these events.
To protect the CHWC, all instructors or mentors conducting a CHWC-sponsored class are required to sign and follow the Requirement for Instructors and/or Mentors, which require instructors and mentors to obtain signed copies of the Waiver and Release of Liability for Class from each participant. No CHWC member may participate in a CHWC-sponsored class without presenting a signed copy of the Waiver and Release of Liability for Class prior to joining the class.
Beyond the Woodshop
All work and no play is not an objective of the club and its members.
We also enjoy field trips to observe and learn about the woodworking assets in our surrounding community. We have visited professional woodworking establishments to learn about their tools and procedures in constructing furniture and home improvement projects for residences.
The Colonial Williamsburg Foundation has been very cooperative in opening their woodworking facilities and showing their recently completed woodworking projects to our club members.
Throughout the year, we take time to enjoy and celebrate the camaraderie of our members. From the luncheon that precedes our regular meetings, to the Spring/Summer Picnic or the Holiday Luncheon, we get together for good conversation, food and fellowship.
